Chambord Substitute
I have a recipe that calls for a liquor called Chambord -- 2 tablespoons to be exact. Is there anything I can use as a substitute?
--Jamie
Hi Jamie,
If you don’t have any Chambord, a raspberry liquor, around the house, you could substitute another liquor, like crème de cassis or orange liquor. Or if you don’t want to use liquor in the recipe, you can use raspberry extract. For 2 tablespoons Chambord, use 1 teaspoon raspberry extract plus enough water to make 2 tablespoons.

Question
I was wondering if you by chance have a recipe for homemade maple syrup. I thought it might come in handy if someday we ran out of storebought and couldn't make it to a store, especially due to bad weather. Thank you.

QuestionHi Gramma Betty - My ginger cookies tend to get harder overnight, and I'm still experimenting to try to get a softer cookie. What do you think I could do to give more softness? But what I was originally going to ask was if you had a good recipe for either ginger cookies, or gingersnap cookies? Thanks for your help! I love your recipes! --Your Adopted Granddaughter JoAnn :)March 2012

QuestionGrandma, I am a grandma too, but I do have a question about sour cream in general. I really do not like it at all, not the taste, not the smell, or not in recipes. (Because I can usually taste it.) Is there a substitute ingredient that I can use that would give my finished dish a good outcome — or what are my options besides just giving up and pick another dish to make?March 2012
