Cherry Pie

Betty, Do you have a recipe for a Bing cherry pie? As a young girl I remember having one at Traverse City, MI. It included the whole berries and had a delightful glaze, with whipped cream on top. I can still almost taste it, but haven’t been able to duplicate it. Thanks, Janette
Hi, Janette!  I have a fantastic Traditional Cherry Pie recipe – but I don’t think it’s the exact one you are looking for, as it doesn’t use Bing cherries. You might want to check with the good folks at the National Cherry Festival (in Traverse City); they might have a recipe you could try.

What Others Have To Say

Thanks for the advice about the bing cherry pie. I see on the Traverse City web page that they do have a cherry cookbook so perhaps I'll send for it. The sauce that you put on the nectarine pie sounds like it might work with the bing cherries. Thanks again, Janette

We live in an over-55 community and are having a Christmas cocktail party for about 30 people. I am looking for some menu ideas. It will be mainly appetizers and desserts. I am thinking I should have a couple of substantial foods. Could you help me with some menus ideas and recipes? I love reading your emails and have tried many of your recipes with good success! Thank you. --Carol Ann

  • Question
I would like a recipe for Muffaletta (may not be spelled correctly). I have only found one place in Dallas that sells the sandwich and that is too far to drive for just a sandwich, so if I can find a recipe, I can make my own. Thank you, Gretchen

  • Question
Hey Betty, I once had your recipe for cinnamon buns but I misplaced it. If possible I would like to have it, through any method. I am serving breakfast this coming Saturday, so I will need it quickly. Also I had tried the recipe on a few occasions but the buns didn't seem to cook all the way through (they were so good they were eaten anyway though). Could you tell me how to correct this? Thanks. --Alexis

Hi Gramma Betty - My ginger cookies tend to get harder overnight, and I'm still experimenting to try to get a softer cookie. What do you think I could do to give more softness? But what I was originally going to ask was if you had a good recipe for either ginger cookies, or gingersnap cookies? Thanks for your help! I love your recipes! --Your Adopted Granddaughter JoAnn :)
