Coleslaw Dressing
I would like to make coleslaw like I had when I was a kid. What is the dressing for the coleslaw made with? Thank you.
--Karen
HI Karen,
Well, there are two schools of thought when it comes to coleslaw dressing. There are the mayonnaise people, who prefer a creamier dressing; and then there are the non-mayo people, who prefer a tangier but sweeter vinaigrette dressing. Both ways of dressing coleslaw are good – it just depends on your preference.
If you want to go the non-mayo route, head over to our sister site, EasyEverydayCooking.com, and check out the recipe for Tri-Colored Slaw, which has shredded carrots and red and green cabbage in a cider-vinegar-based dressing. If you’re hankering for a creamy mayo dressing, make the Tri-Colored Slaw recipe, but use this dressing instead: Mix together 3/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon sugar.
And remember, the great thing about coleslaw is that you can vary or personalize it in so many ways. Feel free to add any of the following: celery seed, dill seed, chopped fresh herbs (such as dill, chives parsley, or tarragon), diced veggies (think bell pepper, radish, shallots, fennel, or celery), diced fruit (maybe apple or pear), and even chopped bacon! Have fun!

Question
I have the Grandma’s Kitchen recipe cards. I’ve lost a card that had a sauce recipe on it. It might be Beefy Tomato Pasta Sauce; I think the recipe had tomato soup and tomato juice in it. If you could look into this?
