Measuring 3/4 Cup

How do you measure 3/4 cup of sugar or cranberries? What is 3/8 teaspoon of salt? --Vanessa
Hi Vanessa! To measure out 3/4 cup of sugar or cranberries (or anything for that matter), first measure out 1/2 cup, and then 1/4 cup. If you find that you have to measure out 3/4 cup often, you might want to check a large cookware store for an expanded set of measuring cups – the large sets usually come with a 3/4 cup measure. For 3/8 teaspoon of salt, you could measure out 1/4 teaspoon, and then 1/8 teaspoon, but you probably don’t need to get that fussy. What I would do is measure out 1/4 teaspoon, then add a little bit more. Then just before the dish is done, give it a taste and see if it needs more salt--which you’d probably want to do anyway!

  • Question

I have tried multiple ideas for beef and noodles, but they always taste the same to me. (Or I overdo it and it's simply horrible.) There must be a recipe that spruces up a family favorite. ... I am just looking for more flavor - not salty flavor, just more or different flavor. Can it be done? Is it possible to add flavor without losing the tried and true taste? Please advise.

And, thank you for all of your great recipes and ideas. My family loves when I bring home a new recipe from you. :)

  • Question

How do I make cookies in Nevada??! I live in what is considered high altitude (4200-4300 ft above sea level) and can't seem to get my cookies to rise at all. Quite frankly, I couldn't do it in Oregon either. I have fresh baking powder and baking soda, and the same cookie recipe my family has been using for generations. I just can't get them to rise. Great for hockey pucks though!
