Betty, can you use regular flour when the recipe calls for self rising flour?
No, you shouldn’t substitute regular flour for self-rising flour. But if you have some baking powder on hand, you can make your own self-rising flour: For each cup of regular (all-purpose) flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
