Before slicing, chopping or dicing a bell pepper, you need to remove the stem and seeds. Here’s how:

1. Cut the pepper in half lengthwise.

2. With a small paring knife, cut around the stem at the top; discard the stem.

3. Carefully cut away the white ribs on the inside of the pepper and brush away any stray seeds.

4. Cut each half into strips or small dice, or coarsely chop.
