Family-Size Hamburger

30 minutesPrepare your own herb stuffing mix with leftover bread and save. Bake bread until golden, about 10 minutes. Then process into crumbs with 1/2 teaspoon each of sage, rosemary, thyme and savory.
Ingredients
Serves 6
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 1 1/2 cups herb-seasoned stuffing mix, crushed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 (3-ounce) can chopped mushrooms, drained
- 1/3 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon lemon pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 pounds ground beef

Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine butter, stuffing mix, egg, mushrooms, broth, green onions, almonds, parsley and lemon pepper in a medium bowl.

Sprinkle salt over beef in a large bowl. Mix lightly. Shape three-fourths of beef mixture into a large pattie on a broiler pan.

Spread stuffing mixture over the beef pattie. Top with another layer made from remaining beef. Seal edge. Bake hamburger pattie until partially cooked through, about 20 minutes.

Turn heat to broil. Broil hamburger pattie 8 inches from heat until cooked through, about 10 minutes longer. Cut into wedges to serve.
