You can save money by keeping the cleaned stems from fresh mushrooms. Cover; microwave for about 1 minute. Then freeze in small batches for use whenever a recipe calls for mushroom pieces.

Ingredients

Serves 6 

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ounces (about 3/4 cup) bow tie pasta
  • 1 (26-ounce) can chopped tomatoes, drained
  • 1 (4-ounce) can mushroom pieces
Directions

    Combine turkey, onion, bell pepper and garlic powder in a large skillet. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until turkey is browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes. Stir in salt.

    Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions. Drain.

    Add tomatoes and mushrooms pieces to skillet; mix well. Add pasta.

    Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until liquid is absorbed and pasta is very tender, about 5 minutes.
