Serves 24

  • 1 (2-layer) package fudge brownie cake mix
  • 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a medium baking dish. Combine cake mix, pie filling, extract and eggs in a large bowl. Stir with a wooden spoon until combined.

  2. 2

Spoon batter into prepared dish. Bake until edges pull away from sides of dish, about 30 minutes.

  3. 3

Meanwhile, mix sugar, butter and milk in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add chips; stir until frosting is smooth.
