25 minutesLook for apple bargains at roadside stands in the fall. Store them in the refrigerator for at least a week. They will stay harvest-fresh and retain most of their valuable vitamin C content.

- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar

- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- Vanilla ice cream
Directions
1

To peel apples in a jiffy, pour scalding water over them just before peeling. This will loosen their skins and make them easier to peel.

Steaks are a pricey entrée, but most supermarkets will give you a discount if you purchase them on the last sale date stamped on the package. Look for the special section in the meat department.
