Glazed Ham Steaks
Prep time:
10 minutesCooking time:
10 minutes“No need to wait until you have an occasion to buy a large ham to enjoy this recipe. Buy 1/2-inch-thick slices of baked ham from the deli counter. They are often less expensive and have better flavor.”
Ingredients
Serves 4
- 2 ( 1/2-inch) ham slices
- 1 cup apple jelly
- 2/3 cup prepared mustard
- 2 green onions, sliced
Directions
1
Trim the excess fat from ham and score from outer edge just to the meat.
2
Melt jelly in a large skillet over medium heat for 1 minute. Add mustard and blend well.
3
Arrange ham slices in the sauce. Spoon sauce over ham to cover well.
4
Cook, uncovered, until ham is heated through, about 4 minutes on each side, turning and basting with sauce occasionally. Sprinkle with green onions. Remove to serving dish. Cut into servings.

Heat the ham very slowly and turn several times. This will keep the steaks tender and juicy.

Beer-Baked Potatoes
If nonalcoholic dark beer is not available at the local grocery store or is priced beyond your budget, you can substitute 1/2 cup chicken broth. The potatoes will turn out just as delicious.
