Prep time:
30 minutesCooking time:
10 minutes“Pork spareribs are affordable, versatile and delicious. They can be baked, stewed or cooked in a slow cooker with sauces from French to Chinese. Do your grocery bill a favor: Stock up when they are on sale.”
Ingredients
Serves 4
- 1/4 cup dried onion flakes
- 3 tablespoons hot water
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 pounds pork spareribs
Directions
1
Combine onion flakes and water in a large bowl. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and sugar. Let stand until onion is soft, about 3 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup sauce.
2
Meanwhile, bring a large pot half-full of water to a boil. Add garlic and salt. Cut ribs into serving portions.
3
Add ribs to pot. Lower heat to medium-high. Cook, covered, for 20 minutes. Drain. Preheat grill. Grill ribs, brushing often with sauce, 5 minutes.
4
Turn ribs over with tongs; cook, brushing with sauce, until crisp and glazed, about 5 minutes longer. Serve ribs with reserved sauce.

Lemon-Dill Asparagus
When asparagus is out of season, or too pricey for your budget, you can save money and still serve a delicious side dish by using green beans. Choose either fresh green beans or the frozen French-cut variety.
