I can remember playing outside at Grandma’s while waiting for this brisket to grill.
Grandma's Secret Trick
When Grandma was out of red-wine vinegar, she had several possible substitutions. Sometimes she used 2/3 cup white-wine vinegar and 1/3 cup tomato juice. Other times she used white wine and tomato juice, or red wine and white vinegar in those same proportions.
Grandma got the recipe for this classic southern dish from an old and dear friend she met in Virginia.
Grandpa was so tickled to see this economical Italian country meal become a favorite at gourmet restaurants.
