Beef Teriyaki Kebabs

Ingredients
Serves 6
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon corn oil
- 1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 20 cubes)
- 1 small pineapple, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 20 cubes)
Directions

Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, garlic and corn oil in a large bowl and mix well.

Add the beef and pineapple to the soy sauce mixture and mix well; cover. Chill, stirring two times, for 30 minutes.

Preheat the grill to medium.

Drain the beef and pineapple, reserving marinade. Thread the beef and pineapple alternately onto wooden skewers.

Grill the kebabs 4 inches from the heat, turning them frequently and basting with reserved marinade, until beef is browned, about 5 to 10 minutes.

Grandma learned from a neighbor that fresh gingerroot is a delicious addition to this marinade. She began using 1/2 teaspoon of grated fresh gingerroot in the soy sauce mixture, and we all loved the fresh, slightly spicy taste.
