Aunt Betty didn't eat red meat, so when she came over for lunch, Gram substituted ground turkey for the ground beef in her burgers. When broiling the turkey burgers, Gram always checked the inside of one to make sure it was cooked all the way through and had no pink color. She often topped the turkey burgers with a slice of Swiss or Cheddar cheese during the last few minutes of broiling.
