Prep time:
15 minutesGrill Time:
20 minutes“We thought Grandma was kidding when she said we were having grilled meat loaf for dinner. But it quickly became the new family favorite.”
Ingredients
Serves 4
- 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup vegetable juice cocktail
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspooons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion (about 1 small)
- 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce, heated
Directions
1
Lightly spray a grill rack with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat grill to low heat.
2
Combine the bread crumbs, vegetable juice, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, egg, garlic salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Add the beef and onion. Mix well.
3
Divide and shape the mixture into 4 individual loaves. Place the loaves on the grill rack. Grill until browned, about 5 minutes.
4
Carefully turn the loaves over with a large spatula. Grill until browned, about 5 minutes longer. Turn over again. Grill until an instant-read meat thermometer inserted in the center of each loaf registers 170F, about 10 minutes more. Top with the marinara sauce and serve.

grandma's Secret tip
Instead of marinara sauce, Grandma sometimes topped the meat loaves with sliced onions and mushrooms that she cooked in a grill basket alongside the loaves.
Serving Suggestion
Serving Suggestion
Serve mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli with the meat loaves. Cherry pie makes a tart contrast for dessert.
