Lamb Gyros

Ingredients
Serves 6
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup finely chopped seedless cucumber
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 3/4 teaspoons salt, divided
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound lamb shoulder (about 2 steaks)
- 1 medium green bell peppers, cut into strips
- 1 small yellow onion, halved and cut into thin strips
- 3 pita breads
Directions

Combine the yogurt, cucumber, dill, lemon juice, garlic and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Mix well. Set aside.

Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sprinkle the steaks evenly with the remaining salt. Add the steaks to the skillet. Cook, turning once, until the steaks are barely pink in the center, 8–10 minutes. Transfer the steaks to a cutting board. Tent with aluminum foil.

Add the bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the bell pepper is crisp-tender, 6–8 minutes.

Cut the steak into thin strips. Add the steak strips to the skillet. Slice the pita breads in half. Spoon the mixture evenly into the pita breads. Serve with the dill-yogurt sauce.
