Ingredients

Serves 48 

  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar, divided
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup almonds, finely chopped
Directions

    Preheat oven to 325ºF. Place 1 1/2 cups brown sugar in a shallow dish; set aside.

    Combine the butter and the remaining brown sugar in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer set on medium-high speed until blended, 1-2 minutes. Add the vanilla. Gradually beat in the flour unitl the mixture is moist, crumbly and well mixed, 2-4 minutes longer.

    Stir the pecans and almonds into the dough with a large mixing spoon.

    Shape the dough into 48 1-inch balls. Roll each dough ball in the reserved brown sugar, coating lightly. Place the coated dough balls on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until firm and lightly browned on the bottom, 15-20 minutes.
