Grandma's Secret Trick
To chop nuts finely, Grandma used a nut chopper that was quicker and easier than a knife and simpler to clean than a blender. The nut chopper was a glass jar fitted with a lid. A rod went through the lid that had an X-shaped pair of blades inside the glass jar and a knob outside. Grandma placed the nuts in the jar, screwed on the lid and used the knob to work the blades until the nuts were finely chopped.
Lemon curd was a bit too tart for my little brother, so Grandma filled some of these delicate cookies with prepared lemon pudding instead.
