Serves 24

  • 1 (22-ounce) package fudge brownie mix
  • 1 (10 1/4-ounce) package miniature marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
Directions
  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 13 × 9-inch baking pan.

  2. 2

Prepare brownies according to brownie mix directions. Spoon into prepared baking pan. Bake until brownies test done, about 25 minutes.

  3. 3

  5. 5

Remove chocolate chip mixture from heat. Stir in cereal. Spoon over brownies. Chill until set, about 45 minutes. Cut into bars. Serve immediately or at room temperature.

Grandma's Secret Tip

Grandma's Secret Tip

The crispy cereal gives these bars a taste like a crunchy chocolate candy bar. For the crunchiest texture, Grandma served them within a day of making them. After that, the crisp rice cereal lost some of its snap. For an unbeatable treat, she used two bars and some ice cream to make an ice-cream sandwich.
