Awesome Pepperoni Pizza
Prep time:
25 minutesBake time:
20-30 minutes“As kids, this homemade pizza smothered with melted mozzarella and sliced spicy pepperoni was our favorite dish. ”
Ingredients
Serves 6
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package (1/4-ounce) dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 3/4 cup pizza sauce
- 12 ounces mozzarella, sliced
- 1 3/4 pepperoni slices (about 25 slices)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
1
Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a 12- x 9-inch baking sheet. Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl. Stir in the yeast. Make a well in the center and add olive oil and 1 cup lukewarm water. Mix until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 5 minutes.
2
Roll out dough and press into prepared baking sheet. Cover and allow to rest for 10 minutes at room temperature, then bake for 5–7 minutes.
3
Remove the crust from the oven and spread pizza sauce on top, leaving a 3/4-inch border. Arrange the mozzarella on top and then the pepperoni. Sprinkle with oregano and pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and bake until golden, 15–20 minutes.
4
Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the pizza into 6 square slices. Serve hot.
