Grandma's Secret Trick
To easily roll dough into a circle, Grandma said she thought of the piece of dough as a clock face. She rolled away from herself at 12 o'clock, then at 2 o'clock, then at 10 o'clock. Then she rolled across the dough from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock. She gave the dough a half turn and repeated the rolling.
Our fingers were small enough to pluck ripe strawberries for this bread without bruising the berries.
Grandma gave me the special job of arranging the warm breadsticks in her bread basket.
