Pizza-Flavored Macaroni

20 minutes“Check out the dairy section of the supermarket for a selection of prepackaged pizza cheeses. They are generally lower priced than mozzarella cheese, and will also result in a great-tasting casserole.”
Ingredients
Serves 6
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 4 cups cooked macaroni
- 2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 ounces pepperoni, sliced
Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, about 5 minutes. Drain. Stir in oregano and basil.

Combine beef mixture and macaroni in a large casserole; mix well.

Combine tomato sauce, Cheddar and garlic salt in a small bowl; mix well. Pour over beef mixture.

Sprinkle mozzarella over tomato sauce mixture. Arrange pepperoni slices over cheese. Bake casserole until hot and bubbly, about 20 minutes.

For a quick and easy way to drain the macaroni, cook it in a large strainer submerged in a pot of boiling water. Then, you can easily lift the basket and drain the water.
