Homemade Granola

35 minutes“Dried cranberries give Grandma's breakfast favorite a new taste. If you prefer a traditional granola that saves a little money, too, substitute raisins or currants for the dried cranberries.”
Ingredients
Serves 6
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 3/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
- 3/4 cup coarsely chopped almonds
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 cup dried cranberries
Directions

Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease a large, shallow baking pan. Combine oats, pecans, almonds and coconut and spread in prepared pan.

Combine molasses, brown sugar, water and oil in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Pour over oat mixture.

Bake oat mixture for 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.

Stir in raisins and cranberries. Bake for 15 minutes longer, stirring every 5 minutes. Cool. Store in an airtight container.

Rolled oats are also sometimes labeled "old-fashioned" oats. You can also use quick-cooking oats in this recipe.
