Chocolate Strawberry Tarts

Ingredients
Serves 2
- 1/3 (10 3/4-ounce) package frozen pound cake, thawed
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons prepared hot fudge sauce
- 2 tablespoons almond flavored liqueur or coffee liqueur, optional
- 6 to 8 strawberries, sliced
- 3 tablespoons strawberry jam, melted
- additional prepared hot fudge sauce
- toasted slivered almonds
- vanilla ice cream
Directions

Cut cake into 4 equal slices. Place 2 slices together, long edges touching, on cutting board. Cut out circle from cake slices using 3-inch cutter. Repeat with remaining 2 cake slices to make 2 circles total.

Combine 1⁄4 cup plus 2 tablespoons prepared hot fudge sauce and liqueur, if desired, in small microwavable bowl.

Microwave on HIGH (100% power) for 30 seconds. Divide sauce evenly between 2 plates; tilt plates to swirl sauce to rim. Arrange cake circles over sauce. Arrange the strawberries in overlapping circles over cake. Gently brush strawberries with jam.

Microwave tarts, one at a time, on HIGH (100% power) until warm, about 30 seconds. Top with additional hot fudge sauce and slivered almonds. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

Theres more than one way to hull a strawberry, and Grandma devised this easy and safe way for her grandchildren to help with this task. She gave us plastic drinking straws and told us to push the straw from the bottom of the berry straight through and out the top. Like magic, both the core and hull were removed in one easy motion. We had fun, and Grandma got her berries hulled in record time.
