  • 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
Directions

Grandma's Secret Trick

Grandma's Secret Trick

One fun summer dessert Grandma served for a crowd was a make-your-own-ice-cream-sundae bar. She lined the picnic table with bowls of toppings: chopped cookies, a variety of candies and sprinkles, fresh berries and cut-up fruit, marshmallows, nuts, cans of whipped cream and, of course, her homemade caramel and hot fudge sauces. Then everyone got to top their bowl of ice cream with their favorite goodies.
