You can save money and turn this into a quiche Lorraine by omitting the ground beef and adding another onion. For a country French flavor, add 1/3 cup diced cooked ham plus 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme.

Ingredients

 

  • 8 ounces ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 (4-ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 unbaked (9-inch) piecrust
  • Ground Turkey rather than ground beef. Save some fat and calories.
Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and crumbly, about 5 minutes. Drain.

    Combine beef mixture with mushrooms, cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, milk and eggs in a large bowl. Mix well.

    Pour mixture into piecrust, spreading evenly with a wooden spoon.

    Bake pie until set, about 40 minutes.
